Learning to play an instrument stimulates, challenges, and enriches our brains in ways no other discipline can.  Its value lasts a lifetime.  Maybe you are making your first steps picking up a violin.  You may be continuing your learning or returning after years wanting to play. We all can continue to learn and grow.

As an educator, I meet students at their current ability and offer a safe and welcoming environment allowing students to be free to be themselves, and free to make mistakes.  (In fact, mistakes are expected and encouraged!  But part of the process is learning how not to repeat the same ones!)

This student-centered, but guided, learning uses a variety of pedagogical streams and musical genres thus allowing students the ability to develop a set of problem solving tools, recognize their own mistakes, and the freedom to experiment (within parameters) to find the best solution.  Music is about creativity and cooperation. Studying music this way, students have the opportunity to build these skills, enrich their lives and experience the world from a new perspective.

Through music, I will engage students in activities that require them to be creative, disciplined, flexible, and work cooperatively with others. My tuition methods are flexible, using materials that appeal to each individual student but also at a level that will challenge. I must help my students explore the emotions that various songs or types of music brings them and help them learn to articulate what they feel and why.  Lastly, my role is to educate students about other cultures so that they learn to see the world through another’s eyes and can appreciate other ways of thinking and living.

As a performer, I also continue to learn and grow. I've been working with symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, opera and musical theatre bands, and with top pop and rock artists for more than 30 years and preparation for each job reveals something new. Music has taken me across the US and around the world. We all want our kids to learn in a safe, fun, empowering, excellent, and inspiring environment where they enjoy their gifts and take their talents to wherever their dreams may lead them.
Music can open those doors for your child as well.
